MTC - Week #2 Training - All Things MLS (Member Leader Support)

It's been two weeks since we have had time available to update the blog.  So we are updating looking back on what has transpired.

Our second week at the MTC meant we had a variety of teachers in the morning covering a variety of topics.  You wouldn't believe how much information is poured into Senior Missionary's brains.  What are they thinking?!

Topics covered Welfare-Self Reliance, Security and Safety (pretty entertaining with an ex-CIA guy who is security for lots of the Brethren), Supporting Local Leaders (translation = don't go into these areas thinking its our job to set them straight), Family History and Temple, and the Church Education System and Institutes.  Each of these topics contained a multitude of technology resources and usage.

In the second half of the day, we had a new young brother as our teacher focusing on our "Four Divinely Appointed Responsibilities."  Guess what?  These are found in the Church's Handbook and apply to all members of the Church.  We invite you to go read.

Our teacher, Brother Hansen.  Turns out Elder Gibbons worked for his father's roofing company for a short time in Arizona.  I tell ya everywhere we go         Elder Gibbons knows someone.

Brother Hansen taught us about working with young adults (sound familiar?), how to use Zoom and Facebook in spreading the Word about our Savior, keeping records (using apps the Church uses), how to plan a lesson the Savior's Way which is all about listening, understanding needs and then providing a simple gospel foundational principle and always bearing personal testimony, extending an invitation to action and commitment, and promising blessings if a person acts in faith and keeps those commitments.  We role played a lot which is unnerving to everyone.  We taught lessons to fellow missionaries, to "a sister interested in learning about the Gospel of Jesus Christ--who was really a plant, and stopped missionaries on the MTC campus with specific questions to ask and return and report.

Our District changed a bit this second week.  We said goodbye to Elder and Sister Galland as they flew off to Africa.  And we welcomed Elder and Sister McCall for the week.  They are now in Denmark.
