The Lord does magnify! This Senior Missionary Couple (who used to take naps once in a while, go to bed at 8:30 pm and watch a Hallmark movie every so often-- okay just one of us) is somehow keeping up with a couple of young, 20 year old young men now serving with us here in Cheboygan. These two are dynamic and energetic and they are motivated to find anyone the Lord has prepared to hear and learn about Jesus Christ. And they are so much fun and did I mention they can eat a lot too?!
Meet Elder Rogers in the forefront and Elder Sines (our new District Leader) behind him.
On Wednesday, May 1st, we met these two giants for the first time at our weekly District Council. We spent a few hours of the day helping them get moved in and settled and made a run to Walmart with them to get the things required for their apartment for missionaries.
This is our current District, in addition to the two Sister Trainer Leaders who joined us.
From left to right: Elder Sines (Utah), Elder Rogers (Utah), Elder Gibbons, Sister Gibbons, Sister Wilson (Texas), Sister Noble (Arizona), Sister Bridge (Arizona,) Sister Froelich (Utah), Sister Radmall (Utah), Sister Nixon (Utah), and Elder Nixon (Utah).
Sister Wilson and Sister Noble were the two sisters that came to Cheboygan a few weeks ago and went on "exchanges with Sister Gibbons." We each recently received a small plastic container labeled "Think Celestial" and inside some very sweet things they wrote.
We love the Sisters in our District--Sisters Froelich and Radmall--serving about 30 miles away in Petoskey. We have mentioned them before, but they had a a third Sister join them for almost 2 weeks, Sister Bridge. We instantly loved her happy, kind heart. It was even better that she is from San Tan Valley in Arizona.

Sisters Froelich, Radmall and Bridge at Zone Conference
We found this on our car one day from Sister Froelich wrote this to us one day.
these silly sisters. I guess they felt we
needed it!
We were so sad yesterday to have to say goodbye to Sister Bridge. She was sent to pick up a returning sister and be her companion in a different Branch south of here. We hope we get to see her when we return home, but her family is moving from Arizona to Alaska while she is out here serving.
Beautiful Sister Bridge (left). Sister Bridge and Froelich call Elder Gibbons "turkey."
On Friday and Saturday, our Traverse City District (which is comprised of the 11 Branches in the Church here at the top 1/3 of Michigan) held a Relief Society Women's Retreat at Hide-A-Way Inn in Indian River which is about 20 miles from here. Elder Gibbons was asked to accompany me so that he could help as Priesthood support along with Elder Nixon. He was asked to give the opening prayer and bless the lunch. After the meal, he went to the kitchen voluntarily and started in on the dishes. Not to my surprise. He said teasing, "I see why I was asked to attend."
We had a nice group of sisters from our Branch. Attending was a sister who is trying to overcome some things so she can go to the Temple. Yesterday she told us that she felt more "refreshed" than she has in years. That's what happens when the spirit is present. Also there was Sheree Woollard who has been attending and learning for several weeks now. When the retreat was over she said I want to set my baptism date for June 2nd. She felt the love and sisterhood amongst the group. What a blessing to part of the world's largest women's organization found all over the world, the Relief Society.

Second picture, left to right: Elder and Sister Gibbons, Sheree Woollard, Pat Bendel, President Kielizewski, Cindy Pugh, Dawn Kielizewski, Camille Barrow, Kathy Gotz, Kathy Buckingham, Chris Amundson and Ann Harris. Second picture is our District missionaries who attended.

We also saw other missionaries who we have come to know and love. The Sister Trainer leaders along with the two sisters serving in Alpena--Sister Ward and Sister Forsyth, southeast of Cheboygan.
In the beautiful lodge, there was a huge elk mount on the wall. I think there was a big of "elk envy" on the part of Elder Gibbons.
We have been teaching a young couple in our Branch. They are returning members and have been attending Church. They want us to come and teach them things that they have yet to learn as well as the Temple Preparation classes and we love being in their home. They have a little girl named Amara and an Australian Shepherd dog (like we used to have) named Echo. Teaching Austin and Madison can be a bit challenging because of the attention the dog and Amara enjoy. I couldn't help myself. I had to stop the lesson and take this picture.
Michigan is such a beautiful state! It's been getting greener and warmer everyday. Last night we and the Elders were invited to have dinner at Brother and Sister Pugh's house. She is the fabulous RS President and her husband is a wonderful, wonderful man who has not joined the Church. The have a gorgeous home right on Mullett Lake. We ate on their enclosed patio and watched as the sun was going down.
But, after dinner and showing them a video called, "Hold Up Your Light," we stepped out on their patio and saw a most spectacular view. God's creations sure draw us closer to Him and bring us peace. Here are a few pictures.
